Microsoft is talking to rival Sony about the possibility of adding Blu-ray technology to the Xbox, according to The Financial Times. Sony Electronics U.S. President Stan Glasgow acknowledged talks with both Microsoft and Apple about adding Blu-ray drives to their hardware. Microsoft and Apple have been pushing the digital-distribution model, which analysts believe will eventually trump Blu-ray's recent format victory.
I'll be honest, I think it's pretty cool and at the same time think it's stupid.
Microsoft seems to be caring more about their users lately; will probably ask for a large sum of money from Sony, though.![]()
Microsoft seems to be caring more about their users lately
Just thought i'd quote that, as it's a rarity for Microsoft to do that![]()

No, they are caring about how much money they will make from their users.
They do some great stuff, but if you've used the stuff it breaks within 3-4 months. I just bought the standard mic that is microsoft name brand and I left it under my bed overnight for some random reason, I went back to it and it was shattered.
Wireless mics are quite amazing, but if you bought your Xbox as a bundle and got 2 wireless controllers with it and its about a year or two old then you have to buy a new wireless controller.
They purposely make things fail so they make more money.
As for Blu-Ray, all I have to say is why? Most people don't play on TVs that can show the extreme quality anyways.

They plan on no longer mass producing DVD's in the near future; everything's going to Blu-Ray. So the reason they're doing Blu-Ray now is to prepare for when DVD kicks the bucket.![]()
Blu ray is still DVD right?
Blu ray is still DVD right?
In a way, but Blu-Ray is a lot better.![]()

I know Blue-Ray is better, its better with HD Tv too ^_^.
What looks very different watching a Blu-ray movie, on a HD Tv, is that it looks like cut scenes from games, you know like short movies in between game play. I was watching 300 the other day on Blu-Ray, HD Tv, and it looked real, Then I watched it on regular tv on HBO, and it didn't look to good, though it was cool, just not in HD.
I was ranting about that on MSN to some people. I think there are pro's and cons to each side.. for one thing, Sony is losing a key trump card on the Xbox, whereas selling it to Microsoft would bring in mad moolah which could deliver nice new gadgets to Sony fans.
I'm not a big fan of it, though. Money or not, Sony needs to remain distinct.
