[F] Redirect - Posted By ashkir (ashkir) on 6th Jan 08 at 5:23am
I don't want people viewing the home page of my board. I already have a code to create pages. I want if they show up at my forum's index to go to a page called http://myboard.virtualforums.co.uk/?page=home

As viewing my board index, I don't want possible. ^_^. I have different plans for posting in the boards.

Thanks

I'm not sure what Ross' policy is on redirects, so we'll wait to see what he says before I make you this code.

Alright. ^_^

Reading the new ToS here. Guess it's not allowed. My idea is out. Off to find another good forum system then.

Thanks for your help.

Unfortunately this isn't allowed..

Code TOS

Can't you display the contents of the ?page=home page on the index page?

I could but it'll seem a bit odd. I may play with it for a while, but yeah. But I don't want my visitors think they can get around it without looking at the code. ProBoards did allow a redirect from the main page to another page like ?page=home, but then again this isn't ProBoards.

Proboards have never allowed redirects of any sort unless your forum is Ad-Free.

If you want to show us the code/forum we'll be able to work out a way of blocking the board listing and forcing users to view one of these other pages instead {Smile}

I highly doubt that they 'allowed' it... they wouldn't allow it for the same reason as us. We show ads on the page, and if you redirect away, the ads don't get shown, therefore they wouldn't 'allow' it.

Could you let me know what it is that you're showing on the 'home' page?

My forums are usually always ad free. I always cough up money for that.

I am thinking of something right now oO. Making the main page hold the content. I'd have to remove info center and such though.

That's it for now

I've made some changes to the Headers/Footers for you so it'll show the "Home" page when either there's the page=home or if it's just the base URL. I also changed the majority of the links to work with our URL structure {Smile}

Thanks Ross! ^_^

Gah. I hate PayPal right now oO. It said my payment wasn't verified but they took my money =( Oh well. At least they don't take forever with a request. ^_^

Edit: Looking at it more in depth. SWEET! It's AWESOME!
