We've got an exciting new feature being prepared - one which should be of interest to many RPG forums (although I believe many other types of forum will still find the features useful). We have been revamping our "Additional Profile Options" feature - the feature which lets you add extra fields to users profiles. We've been attempting to expand its uses and generally make it easier to use.

Before we launch it on all forums we would like a couple of forums to give it a try first - just to make sure it is as good as it can be!

If you're interested then just post below (or PM) the link to your forum. We'll let you know when/if the new features are there for you to try. There shouldn't be any downtime associated with this upgrade so if you make regular use of the additional profile options feature and would like to help us improve it then please let us know.

Great I've got two bits still to finish up (no idea when I'll get around to being able to do them) but will let you know when we're ready to roll.

Any other takers? As I say in the opening post, these features are not just for RPG forums, I believe they are things many forums will find handy such as total control over the Instant Messenger profile fields

Throw it on Skin-Box, I'm sure I could find some use, will also make me finish it!

Have had bit of a delay with timescales (I've just been very busy with another project). I now just need to make some changes to the API to stop it from breaking after the switchover. Then we'll be ready to roll

Don't wait too eagerly At a guess I'd say I should get around to it by Tuesday/Wednesday - but who knows what this week holds.

even though I don't have a computer anymore/yet, I'll gladly test it using my iPod.

Have just been finishing getting it setup on the main forum server. I have to say that I am very happy about the improvements made to it. Just little things but I can see they will make it so much easier for admins to use

Will try to get the test forums converted early tomorrow (just incase there are any issues).

All of the forums listed above should now be running v2.4 (you can check by looking in your footer - the version number is listed there). Everything seems to have gone OK. A couple of hiccups but I soon got them sorted. Do let me know if you find anything out of the ordinary or not working as expected - especially anything with modifying your profile, updating the additional profile options or marking boards as read

When I looked at my profile the values of the stat fields got moved downwards by 1, also slightly messed up my mini-profile template

Edit: the mini-profile problem is because the number for each custom profile field was decreased by 1

Everything should have kept the same ID I'll check what happened to see if there is any way it could be prevented.

They're all showing OK now through?

I edited them, from what I saw the first one now is now custom 0 instead of custom 1

Ah OK, thanks. That does make sense. I'll see if I can get them back to starting at custom 1 again. Will have to see what that would involve though.

Also Profile Field > Set Choices doesn't work, In edit profile it shows up as a text field with no choices, when I go back to edit it the field for the options is gone until I change it then change it back and the options show up there

It seems to look good, I like what you can do now. Kinda makes everything easier for other mesengers or gamer names.

Only a couple of months late but I'm now in the process getting these half-launched features actually launched - before the new set of features/changes is ready to go online

This upgrade to give greater control over the "Additional Profile Options" is now in the process of being rolled out. Less than 5% of forums up dated so far but the rest should be processed over the next 24 hours or so provided we don't find any issues. Be sure to let us know if you spot any errors.

Hopefully we'll be able to get these new features coming a bit quicker again after that

About 40% of forums should see the new options by now as well as any which are newly registered. I just want to monitor each one as it is processed rather than just setting all forums to upgrade to ensure it all runs smoothly. So just another 3000 to do

Nick - Support is kept seperate from the other forums, and runs a different version of the source code at many times for testing things, or just to add a few extra necessary things to the forum.

BTW, support does have this feature (and has had for quite a while). It just doesn't have the same version number
